Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1959, in Gary, Indiana, to an African American family, and his family was of working class. Michael is the eighth of the family’s ten children.

A child in love with music, he started as a singer in the family band, but soon made his way to become the lead singer of the family band The Jacksons.

Jackson has become a global pop icon, whether for his hit albums, autobiographical book, or the many plastic surgeries he underwent, everything surrounding him has been the center of media attention. 1991 saw the release of his eighth album, Dangerous. Like its predecessors, it was a successful album, and became the highest-selling album of the year worldwide.

Jackson’s life was not without rewards and awards, as he won a great deal of them, the most important of which are 31 awards from Gwyneth International Records, 13 Grammy Awards, the legendary Grammy Award, and many others.

Throughout the last years of his life, there were a lot of accusations and investigations surrounding Jackson regarding cases of sexual harassment of children and minors. Even after Jackson’s death, these accusations continued to come again and again, most notably in the 2019 documentary «Leaving Neverland» on HBO.

Beginnings

Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1959, in Gary, Indiana, to an African American family, and his family was of working class. His father worked in mineral mines, and his mother was a devout housewife, a follower of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

He studied middle school at Monte Clair College, and he fell in love with music from an early age, and started as a singer in the family band, but soon made his way to become the lead singer of the family band that bore the name The Jacksons.

His beginning was with the family band, which was touring the Midwest, performing in black clubs. In 1967, the band released their first album, Big Boy, but the album failed to generate interest. The following year, the band signed a contract with Motown Records, which required the family to move to Los Angeles.

In 1969, the band released their first album, which included a group of hit songs such as I Want You Back, followed by the album, which was the highest selling ABC, and two songs, including «The Love You Save» and «I’ll Be There», topped the Billboard charts. In addition to his work with the family band, Jackson released his own album Off the Wall in 1979 with Quincy Jones. The album was a resounding success, and was the first album in US history to have four songs at number one in the top ten charts, and ranked third on the Billboard charts, which included more than 200 albums, in addition to selling more than 20 million copies worldwide.

Wanting to have more influence than this album, he released Thriller in 1982. The album was a record-breaker at the time, becoming the world’s best-selling album. It topped the Billboard 200 albums chart for thirty-seven weeks, and maintained its position in the top ten for eighty weeks. The album has sold 65 million copies worldwide.

In 1983, he returned to work with his brothers on live shows. Hence his own mark appeared in Dancing, The Moonwalk, and in 1985, he wrote the song We Are The World with Lionel Richie. . In 1987, he released an album attached to Thriller, titled Bad. Although he did not achieve the success of his predecessor, but it was a satisfactory success, seven of his songs ranked number one on the Billboard Top 100 charts. It has sold more than 45 million copies worldwide.

In 1988, he released his autobiographical book, Walking on the Moon, which added success to his already successful albums, selling 200,000 copies, and was a New York Times bestseller.
